kmail - Unable to connect to gmail

My gmail account is offline.

When I try to check mail for the account I get a pop up headed "Sign in with Google" where it asks me to "Choose an account to continue to Akonadi Resources for Google Services".

I click on my email account and I get

"Sign in with Google temporarily disabled for this app
This app has not yet been verified by Google in order to use Google Sign in."

I have signed in to google ok from a web browser using the email account and its password and am able to see my gmail account OK.

I have also modified my gmail account within kmail re inputting the password but with the same result.

Google is currently blocking akonadi from connecting to gmail.
