[Solved]Gnome authentication dialog does not display.

Hi all.
I've recently set up a laptop with a fresh Arch install.

I've installed the gnome package group and have also installed the pamac-aur AUR package.

I've noticed some strange behaviour when opening the preferences window in pamac. Usually this should display a prompt for authentication confirmation, but this does not appear initially* (see below) and the settings window opens and allows me to continue without confirming authentication.

However, if I lock the gnome session with Super + L and then unlock it again, I can see the authentication prompt, but clicking either the authenticate or cancel buttons does nothing and the dialog remains open and stuck above all other content.

This seems to be an issue with any application that requires administrator authentication to perform an action and not just pamac. e.g. Changing the system keyboard layout in gnome settings.

I've tested this on a Lenovo ThinkPad S440 and also a Dell XPS 13 (9370) and both present the same issue.

I'm afraid I don't really know where to look to debug what's going on here so any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Edit: Note, I've installed sudo, created the sudo group, added my user to it and edited /etc/sudoers to allow the sudo group.

Here is the output from journalctl -xe

Re: [Solved]Gnome authentication dialog does not display.

I've managed to solve this problem by replacing

%sudo ALL=(ALL) ALL

with

%wheel ALL=(ALL) ALL

in /etc/sudoers and adding myself to the wheel group.

It seems that, although sudo can be configured to allow users in the sudo group, the gnome authentication dialog does not work well if sudo is configured this way.
