I've got an issue where XFCE just doesn't start, I've tried using xinit as well, and it doesn't show any errors.
I use a bit of an odd setup, a laptop with the screen completely removed (nothing is plugged into the LVDS port)
lspci -vnn:

Xorg.0.log

GNOME works fine.

I've given up on running XFCE, I'm just going to continue using GNOME. If the mods wish they may close this thread.

You have to configure an Optimus setup properly before you can actually run x sessions: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/NVIDIA_Optimus gnome works because you are running a wayland session on the intel card and you aren't using the nvidia gpu in any shape or form

But I am running on the nvidia card with X11.
[REDACTED]$ echo $XDG_SESSION_TYPE
x11
[REDACTED]$ glxinfo|egrep "OpenGL vendor|OpenGL renderer"
OpenGL vendor string: NVIDIA Corporation
OpenGL renderer string: GeForce GTX 1050 Ti/PCIe/SSE2

Regardless, it doesn't matter, because I installed cinnamon, and the issue I was having went away. Thank you for trying when no one else would.
