8192Mb ram available in BIOS/dmidecode, only 5955Mb found by free/htop

Hi,

My laptop was sold as having 8Gb of RAM, and the bios and dmidecode indeed say it has 8192Mb

oxayotl@Baha-u-llah> sudo dmidecode -t 5,6,16,17 ~
# dmidecode 3.2
Getting SMBIOS data from sysfs.
SMBIOS 3.2.1 present.
# SMBIOS implementations newer than version 3.2.0 are not
# fully supported by this version of dmidecode.

I didn't find any such option in BIOS.
The laptop is a Asus ROG Zephyrus G GA532DU-AL005. I thought dmidecode would include all relevant hardware details, which command should I run to get more detail?
Here is lspci -vvv in case it helps

oxayotl@Baha-u-llah> lspci -vvv ~

Can you disable any/either of the GPUs?

Re: 8192Mb ram available in BIOS/dmidecode, only 5955Mb found by free/htop

I don't know how. Neither of them is from intel, so I cannot use BBswitch, Bumblebee or Optimus as far as I know, and I have found no such options in the BIOS. I tried the method described here:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Hy … screte_GPU

Didn't work :

oxayotl@Baha-u-llah> sudo LANG=C /usr/share/acpi_call/examples/turn_off_gpu.sh ~

Re: 8192Mb ram available in BIOS/dmidecode, only 5955Mb found by free/htop

If you can't deactivate it in the BIOS, there's no point anyway (assuming the BIOS reserves the memory for the GPU/s)
Deactivating it in the OS will not "free" that memory ever.

Maybe you can make use of https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Swap_on_video_RAM

I think I'll just buy more RAM.
