I'm seeing this:
[root@somehost ~]# pacman -Syy
:: Synchronizing package databases...
core
extra
community
multilib
[root@somehost ~]# pacman -Fs catdvi
community/catdvi 0.14-8
usr/bin/catdvi
[root@somehost ~]# pacman -Ss catdvi
[root@somehost ~]# pacman -S catdvi
error: target not found: catdvi
(I've deleted the progress bars from pacman -Syy)
Has anybody a hint what is going on?

Ok. -Sy and -Fy refresh different kinds of data.
Thank you.

Specifically, /var/lib/pacman/*.db vs /var/lib/pacman/*.files.
