This is really weird. It just happened after upgrading Gnome Shell a day ago. Whenever I try to start Claws Mail something goes wrong, the program doesn't even start and the screen freezes for a second or so. I could see this in the logs:

I'm running gnome-shell version 3.34.0+148+g506b75fc7-1 with mutter as window manager and X11.

I'm getting crashes too but in my case it's launching emacs.

Looks like it has been temporary fixed upstream and there's a new Gnome Shell package available for upgrade: https://git.archlinux.org/svntogit/pack … 4796aadf32
I haven't had time yet to test it so I cannot tell if it works.
Edit: I've done it today. Issue is gone.
