Edit: It was a wine issue as it turns out. I was testing the setup with a game running in wine that was installed with a script. That script also installed dinput through winetricks, which I disabled. After that, wine detected the controller just fine.
I did a fresh install or Arch a week ago and have connected my Xbox One S controller to the laptop. It works when connected in wired mode and I was also able to pair it via bluetooth, but in either mode the system only detects it as /dev/input/js0. This isn't a problem for most games or emulators and having tested a few, all worked correctly. The issue is wine games, or rather wine games through Lutris.
What usually happened when I clicked Game Controllers in wine's control panel, two types of wireless controllers were listed: Xbox Wireless Controller (js), which is showing up fine, and the now absent Xbox Wireless Controller (event). Wine games would only work correctly with the event version. My first reaction was to look in /dev/input/by-id/ folder and sure enough, my mouse and webcam are present, but not my gamepad, which was connected through USB at the time.
I have xf86-input-libinput and xf86-input-evdev installed and lsmod shows that the xpad module is loaded as it should be, but other than that, I'm at a loss as to where to look for the cause of the problem. Any help would be appreciated.
