Hi all, i am going to buy a r380 graphic card for my desktop pc. I use it for steam playing and normal daily activities. So i need 3d acceleration and vulkan drivers.
If i understood correctly i have to install the opengl support by installing the mesa package, the vulkan drivers and the video drivers (that can be the open source amdgpu or closed amdgpu pro).
What are the best drivers for amd video cards, the closed one or the open source?

You do need to install the Vulkan and Mesa drivers to play games via Steam, but the AMD drivers are not always necessary with Arch Linux. Before installing any AMD drivers, try using just Vulkan, Mesa, and Proton first and see if your games will install and work correctly. If not, it will be better to first try installing the AMD proprietary drivers, and then try the open-source ones if the proprietary ones won't work.
Note: I would also suggest looking into the AMD RX 580 for your video card - they are faster, newer, and cheaper than the R9 380.
