Problems when trying to activate the hibernation on my laptop

Hello to all,

I'm facing some issues to get hibernate option in my laptop. For some reason, when I try to put my machine in a hibernation state, the system refuses to do it:

I checked the dmesg and I found the following error:

[ 52.885291] PM: Image not found (code -22)
[   52.888209] PM: hibernation entry

My configuration is the following:

/dev/nvme0n1p1: UUID="822C-34CD" TYPE="vfat" PARTLABEL="EFI system partition" PARTUUID="0492ccab-e204-4ebb-97d8-bd626be159f9"
/dev/nvme0n1p3: TYPE="BitLocker" PARTLABEL="Basic data partition" PARTUUID="f2d9a0cf-fcb8-4b09-b6a7-3003fed1f3e8"
/dev/nvme0n1p4: LABEL="WinRE_DRV" UUID="8814266914265B08" TYPE="ntfs" PARTLABEL="Basic data partition" PARTUUID="3ac49dc9-3924-4bb3-a654-741be338eb25"
/dev/nvme0n1p5: UUID="603787cb-b548-4365-b82a-aaa712751927" TYPE="crypto_LUKS" PARTLABEL="ArchLinux" PARTUUID="4b53289a-d167-4b24-a41d-70d7c595ce6e"
/dev/mapper/cryptroot: UUID="74ca1c4a-b776-4857-a9ee-46bae113ea7b" TYPE="f2fs"
/dev/nvme0n1p2: PARTLABEL="Microsoft reserved partition" PARTUUID="33bfa4dc-f1b1-40ed-a6c7-4d5bc3cde5eb"

I have a dual-boot with Windows. Arch is installed in two partitions:

  • nvme0n1p1: EFI and /boot partition in FAT32

  • nvme0n1p5: Encrypted partition in F2FS. No LVM

My swapfile is configured following Arch wiki and it seems to be working. The file is located at:

# Swap File
/swapfile               none            swap            defaults        0 0

More info about Swap:

elektro@thinkpad ~ % swapon --summary
Nombre del fichero Tipo Tamaño Utilizado Prioridad
/swapfile                               file            16777212        0       -2

Currently, I'm using GRUB as bootloader. the Linux kernel parameters are:

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="cryptdevice=UUID=603787cb-b548-4365-b82a-aaa712751927:cryptroot resume=UUID=74ca1c4a-b776-4857-a9ee-46bae113ea7b resume_offset=68181861 zswap.enabled=1 zswap.compressor=lz4 zswap.max_pool_percent=20 zswap.zpool=z3fold"

The swap file offset:

Filesystem type is: f2f52010
File size of /swapfile is 17179869184 (4194304 blocks of 4096 bytes)
 ext: logical_offset: physical_offset: length: expected: flags:
   0:        0.. 4194303:   68181861..  72376164: 4194304:             last,eof
/swapfile: 1 extent found

And of course, I have activated the right kernel hooks:

HOOKS=(base udev autodetect keyboard keymap modconf block encrypt lvm2 filesystems resume fsck)

I don't understand if I missing something important, I tried to modify the resume option by putting the mapper of the unencrypted partition (/dev/mapper/cryptroot) with no luck. I think I'm missing something.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards.

Re: Problems when trying to activate the hibernation on my laptop

Could you please provide your journal?
Have you tried resuming without zswap?

It seems that the Job can't find the "/swapfile" inside me encrypted root partiiton.

I tested without Zram=0 with no luck.

Thanks.

Re: Problems when trying to activate the hibernation on my laptop

I was talking about zswap, not zram. While I would expect it to be intelligent enough its purpose is to intercept writes to physical swap and instead compress it into memory. So I want to rule it out.

Also more journal from start to wakeup would be more useful. Use a pastebin client for large outputs.

Re: Problems when trying to activate the hibernation on my laptop

Hello.

Sorry, I write badly the word. I want to say zswap.

The current kernel cmdline is;

BOOT_IMAGE=/vmlinuz-linux root=UUID=74ca1c4a-b776-4857-a9ee-46bae113ea7b rw cryptdevice=UUID=603787cb-b548-4365-b82a-aaa712751927:cryptroot resume=UUID=74ca1c4a-b776-4857-a9ee-46bae113ea7b resume_offset=80523714 loglevel=3 quiet

Here your have the complete output of the current boot:

https://pastebin.com/hSNCY8b8

Thanks for your help.

Edit: As far as I can see, Zswap is enabled event if I don't "activate" it. I need to figure out how to disable it properly.

Re: Problems when trying to activate the hibernation on my laptop

Please post the output of

 lsblk -o name,path,mountpoint,uuid,fstype

to verify you're pointing resume= to the proper root device.

Ou.

It seems that is not a something related with my current configuration. I will check it. Thanks for your help.
