[SOLVED] ip link does not show wi-fi card after installing gnome/i3

I just installed Arch Linux on my Acer Aspire A515-54-75VH. When I was installing it, I was able to see my wi-fi card:

# ip link
1: lo: <LOOPBACK,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 65536 qdisc noqueue state UNKNOWN mode DEFAULT group default qlen 1000
    link/loopback 00:00:00:00:00:00 brd 00:00:00:00:00:00
2: enp1s0: <NO-CARRIER,BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP> mtu 1500 qdisc fq_codel state DOWN mode DEFAULT group default qlen 1000
    link/ether b4:a9:fc:14:44:fd brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff
3: wlp0s20f3: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 qdisc noop state DOWN mode DEFAULT group default qlen 1000
    link/ether d4:d2:52:55:4c:09 brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff

But after installed gnome and configure the i3 window manager and reboot my computer, it is showing this to me:

# ip link
1: lo: <LOOPBACK,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 65536 qdisc noqueue state UNKNOWN mode DEFAULT group default qlen 1000
    link/loopback 00:00:00:00:00:00 brd 00:00:00:00:00:00

Re: [SOLVED] ip link does not show wi-fi card after installing gnome/i3

You're running an old Kernel. Reboot to the new one. Also check if your /boot partition is correctly mounted during runtime / updates.

Re: [SOLVED] ip link does not show wi-fi card after installing gnome/i3

That's not what schard suggested.  Your running kernel is older than the one installed by pacman.  If you have indeed recently rebooted, then your boot partition must not have been mounted when the kernel was upgraded.

Re: [SOLVED] ip link does not show wi-fi card after installing gnome/i3

Mount the boot partition and re-install the kernel package from the cache.

Re: [SOLVED] ip link does not show wi-fi card after installing gnome/i3

Thanks! Basically, I executed this commands on my arch:

pacman -Qqdn > pkglist_deps.txt
pacman --force --asdeps -S $(< pkglist_deps.txt)

Now everything is good.

Re: [SOLVED] ip link does not show wi-fi card after installing gnome/i3

That was completely overkill, and you should add your /boot parititon to your fstab so this won't happen again on the next kernel update

Any way, please mark as [SOLVED] by editing the title in your first post.
