A while back I posted about the difficulty of connecting my bluetooth mouse - I've semi-solved that with a shell script. I'm using a Lenovo X1 Carbon 3rd gen.
But now I have the problem of the cursor jumping around when I'm typing - sometimes it jumps back in the current line, other times up a line or two, so I find myself entering text in the middle of previous text. I hoped I might disable my trackpad. Now - the trackpad works, at least as a mouse, reasonably well. However, if I open system settings (in KDE) I'm told in a red box that "No touchpad found". When I try "xinput list" in a console, one device returned is "PS/2 Synaptics TouchPad". And yet, the command "synclient -l" returns "Unable to find a synaptics device."
So I have a touchpad which works, and yet is somehow not recognized by the system. This means I can't disable it.
How do I disable a working, but non-existent, device? And if this is not the answer, how do I stop my cursor from jumping into the wrong spot?
