I installed all the dependencies but when I am trying to install proton itself, this error shows up:

Error making: protonIt seems from its AUR page that this is an ongoing problem for a few months now. Is there anything I can do to fix it?

Show exactly what you have done, each step, where if fails, with what errors.
Someone may be able to shove you in the right direction.

From what you have posted it is not clear if you tried applying the patch you linked and if that had any effect.
Also do you require the separate proton rather than the one provided by Steam-Play?
