Cannon PIXMA MX492 Printer only printing blank documents

Hello gents, relatively new to the community here, and I'm still trying to get all my peripherals set up and running with my arch system.  I've been fairly successful with most of my peripherals so far but no matter what OS or printer type I always run into issues with them, I'm cursed when it comes to printers!  I've followed the documentation for CUPS and installed gutenprint; then I added the printer through system settings and everything is connected and seeing each other properly.  The problem arises when I go to print; even the test page prints out blank.  The printer runs through the motions and the spool seems to be moving correctly but no ink is coming out.  I know it's not a low ink level because I ran a nozzle test directly from the printer and everything printed out as expected.  I've tried searching the wiki but to no avail so I'm looking to the forum for help!  It would very much be appreciated, I can print what I need from my windows device but that's no fun, I want to stay in arch, it's much nicer over here .

I would suggest trying https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/cnijfilter2/ and using the canonmx490.ppd that package supplies
