Yes, I think that AUR is a very important part of my decision to use Arch as my only OS on desktop and laptop.

AUR+pacman+ABS is something no other distro have, and I love this system. yes, I love it big_smile

For this to happen we need more TUs or just vote for packages that we want to be in Community.

Yeah thats what i meanted by this sentence too big_smile
Of course people have to vote then for packages from AUR which they like and compile well (PKGBUILD's are fine).
This would be much easier for newcomers especially, if there would be something integrated in pacman for AUR support (like aurbuild does, with voting option too).
There are too much peple i guess who use packages from AUR but dont vote if it would be somewhat necessary :?

Re: AUR is cool!

Since ive been using yaourt ive installed heaps more stuff from AUR but voted a lot less since i havnt been searching the webpage its self.

I dont know what the answer is. But maybe a voting ( -V ) option could be build into yaourt (and the like) that allows you to vote on your installed aur pkgs all at once.

       -S, --unvote
              Unvote for each [package].

When voting, you should not consider the PKGBUILD quality. If you want the package in community, vot for it. When a TU will adopt a package to put it in community, he will fix/improve the PKGBUILD.
