I've been watching the various discussions on when Gnome 2.16 will be made available. Like many other's I'm eager to get the new version installed.
I was wondering if anyone had tried Garnome? For the uninitiated it's an automated build system for Gnome: http://bbs.archlinux.org/posting.php?mode=newtopic&f=18
It's running right now on my system. So far I haven't run into any problems I haven't been able to overcome. I did have to install a few extra packages, pkgconfig, perlxml, pyrex, perl-xml-simple and imagemagick. There may be other packages needed so far, we'll see.
My only complaint so far, aside from the time it takes, is that the build installs some items that I already have. For example, it's running through the rather lengthy Firefox build right now.
I'll post the results once the build is finished. If it ever finishes. ![]()

Well it finished and it works great, I must say. I've got gnome 2.16 installed in my home directory, and I can use that temporarily until the 2.16 packages are available.
Try it, you'll like it.
