Headphones showing as unplugged in Pavu, not able to set as default

I'm having a weird issue with pulseaudio. I have my speakers plugged into the 3.5mm jack on my motherboard. The jack has 2 options under "Port" in the Output Devices tab in pavu. Only the "Headphones" option work, but when that's enabled I cannot set it as the default output since it's "unplugged". Also on boot it mutes that output channel because it's unplugged. I used to be able to go into alsamixer and manually raise the headphone level without issue, but ever since installing pulseaudio-alsa nothing shows up in alsamixer. I get that's the whole point, but I can't do what I was doing in alsamixer in pavu

Re: Headphones showing as unplugged in Pavu, not able to set as default

For accessing the actual card from  alsamixer use

alsamixer -c0 #Or press F6 while in the "nothing shows up" state

You might want to post

pacmd list-cards
pacmd list-sinks

in [ code][ /code] tags without the spaces.

The easiest way to override this behaviour if its not detected properly and you simply want to force it off of the wrong jack is to add the relevant set-sink-port command to the end of your /etc/pulse/default.pa
