after successful installation, can't connect to wifi

so i read that the hardest part of the installation was configuring the wifi and boy is that the truth! i'v been at this for about 3 hours now and i seriously can not figure it out. i followed the arch wiki to the T but now i have about 12 tabs open and each one doesn't have a solution, at least not one i can find so im just gunna ask for help.

so i installed arch in a virtual machine about 6 times before attempting on bare metal and that helped a little but its not the same thing when it comes to wifi since u can pretty much skip that step in a virtual machine so now im on bare metal and can not pass go, i can not collect my $200!

after unmounting and rebooting i get to arch login, i log in w/ my credentials and do sudo systemctl enable NetworkManager, i get the 3 output lines w/ no errors. then i do sudo wifi-menu, i see my router, click it, hit enter and i get 'job for netctl@wlo1*****.service failed because the control process exited with error code. see "systemctl status  "netctl@wlo1*****.service" and "journalctl -xe" for details.

so journalctl -xe is about 1600 lines and "systemctl status" says the state is degraded, jobs 0, failed 2 units.

since i've ready so many pages on networking i tried a lot of random input lines like "sudo dhcpcd, sudo systemctl enable netctl, sudo NetworkManager," etc. i don't know which ones are connected, which ones are useless or don't apply to me but i tried everything and im stuck. if anyone could point me in the right direction, i have about a million 'thank you's' if u can help smile

Re: after successful installation, can't connect to wifi

Slow down, there's not a single thing of relevance in this entire post other than random flailing about with multiple conflicting things. Disable every service you've enabled, dhcpcd netctl and NetworkManager all conflict with each other and will lead to issues if started simultaneously, also you aren't giving away any private information by disclosing your interface name, it just annoying as we wouldn't be able to catch any typos.

Follow https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ne … n/Wireless top to bottom, if you're confused with anything, post the verbatim commands you are using and their verbatim outputs in [ code ] [ /code ] tags (other than the connection password/SSID).

FWIW to speed this along a little you might want to post

systemctl list-unit-files --state enabled
dmesg

Re: after successful installation, can't connect to wifi

sudo systemctl enable NetworkManager, i get the 3 output lines w/ no errors. then i do sudo wifi-menu

Pick *ONE* network managing service, not two or more. When NM takes control over the NIC, netctl will refuse to operate it. Most services will enter a race over the device and constantly knock each other out (three stooges syndrome)

so journalctl -xe is about 1600 lines and "systemctl status" says the state is degraded, jobs 0, failed 2 units.

So… what's the output of "systemctl status  "netctl@wlo1*****.service"…?
