Arch Live USB Hangs

I just updated my BIOS (GA-Z97X-UD5H to F10) and now my Arch installation won't boot. From reading the forums, it looks like the update wiped the NVRAM entries and that just needs to be rebuilt, which didn't seem like too big a deal, so plugged in an Arch USB and went to arch-chroot in, but the live USB won't boot either. It prints "SHA256 Validated" and then hangs. If I increase the log level, it hangs at "freeing unused kernel image memory".

Am I missing something? How do I recover from this? Thanks!
