[SOLVED] Strange noise with headphones / No sound with speakers

I own an Asus S406U for a few months. I installed arch with no issue, until now. With headphones, a quite strange noise can be heard (https://www.mediafire.com/file/i94ris59 … o.ogg/file) and no sound can be played. With laptop speakers I do not have sound either. This is, i've been using the laptop with no problem until now, after rebooting from Windows. I doubt this can affect, but who knows...

I'm using pusleaudio, so I first thought it was a pulseaudio problem. However, killing it do not stop the strange continuous noise on the headphones. I even uninstalled it, but the problem persists. I've tried lots of possible solutions (mainly the pulseaudio wiki (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pu … eshooting)), but none solved this issue. I'm using the snd_hda_intel module. If I blacklist this module in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf, the strange noise in the headphones dissapear.

The sound in Windows is working, so this does not seem like a hardware issue. Any ideas?

Thank you very much for your time.

Rebooting from windows can definitely have an effect here on badly implemented firmware.

Try

sudo alsactl init

to reforce driver initialization. Ensure fast boot from Windows is disabled.

Yep, rebooting from windows seemed like a minor detail. Fortunately, I've found the solution, and it is basically due to this fact.

This is the deal: If I reboot from windows, this issue appears. However, if I shut down Windows completely, and then boot Arch, the problem disappears. I found the solution here: https://askubuntu.com/questions/986140/ … zenbook-13. This seems as stupid as it sounds. The issue is now solved.
