Nouveau driver and 3440x1440_80 resolution and ASUS GT1030 Nvidia

Hi All,

Having trouble getting my ACER 34"  ED347CKR panel to run at it's maximum resolution of 3440x1440_80. (it supports upto 100hz, but cvt shows 100hz at an out of spec Horiz Freq, so lowered to 80)

It is driven by as ASUS Nvidia GT1030 card.

I thought there was support for this card in the Nouveau driver?

xrandr shows:

HDMI-1 connected 2560x1080+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 795mm x 334mm
   2560x1440 59.95
   2560x1080 59.99*
   1920x1080 60.00 60.00 50.00 59.94
   1920x1080i 60.00 50.00 59.94
   1680x1050 59.88
   1600x900 60.00
   1280x1024 75.02 60.02
   1440x900 59.90
   1280x720 60.00 50.00 59.94
   1024x768 75.03 60.00
   800x600 72.19 75.00 60.32
   720x576 50.00
   720x480 60.00 59.94
   640x480 75.00 60.00 59.94
   720x400 70.08

I tried getting a new timing with cvt  and setting a new mode with:

xrandr --newmode "3440x1440_80.00" 571.75 3440 3712 4088 4736 1440 1443 1453 1510 -hsync +vsync
xrandr --addmode HDMI-1 3440x1440_80.00

.. and then I set to that mode and the display goes blank and the monitor shuts down .. obviously does not like it.

xorg log shows that DDC modeline include:

[ 1818.570] (II) NOUVEAU(0): Printing DDC gathered Modelines:
[ 1818.570] (II) NOUVEAU(0): Modeline "3440x1440"x0.0 319.89 3440 3488 3520 3600 1440 1443 1448 1481 +hsync -vsync (88.9 k
Hz eP)
[ 1818.570] (II) NOUVEAU(0): Modeline "3440x1440"x0.0 533.09 3440 3528 3592 3600 1440 1444 1449 1481 +hsync -vsync (148.1

[ 1818.570] (II) NOUVEAU(0): Modeline "3440x1440"x0.0 533.12 3440 3528 3592 3600 1440 1444 1449 1481 +hsync +vsync (148.1

[ 1818.570] (II) NOUVEAU(0): Modeline "2560x1080"x0.0 184.40 2560 2608 2640 2720 1080 1082 1087 1130 +hsync +vsync (67.8 k
Hz e)

.. but confused by that as it does not show a frame rate ..  I tried the timing in the 2nd line, but no change.
(EDIT: xrandr shows the 1st line as 60Hz, 2nd line as 100Hz) both don't work ..

Any help appreciated ..

Re: Nouveau driver and 3440x1440_80 resolution and ASUS GT1030 Nvidia

UPDATE:

I tried the first line from the xorg log again this time changing the name of mode to "3440x1440_xorg" and it worked!
Seems it did not like the 3440x1440_60.00 style of name .. go figure

Anyway, now I have a hi res screen ,,, yay
