Hi There, Even after Installing appropriate packages
libva-mesa-driver and mesa-vdpau.
for my Radeon graphic card (discrete), some how Vlc Player is failing to use VDPAU hardware acceleration
Note:
Here what I have selected in preferences section of VLC media player:
under 'Video' tab I have seletedVDPAU output & VDPAU decoder under' input/codecs' tab.

Everything works correctly, this hardware just isn't up to snuff and chances that you have only a MPEG2 stream to accelerate are close to zero with most current video formats. In fact I'd claim you are likely to get better accel support out of the intel card...
