Hi everyone,
i have very poor sound quality over my hdmi port using an nvidia rtx 2070 super. Headphones work fine, and display is also working, just the audio over hdmi is really poor. Does anyone have any idea how i can troubleshoot this?
Thanks

Did you recently update to 5.4.3 and nvidia 440.44-1? I did and after a reboot, am getting distorted audio over HDMI. There is a post on the board about audio issue after upgrading to 5.4. The solution to that was to add
snd_hda_intel.dmic_detect=0to the boot parameters. It however didn't work for me. Should I fine an appropriate solution, I'll update the thread.

same issues here. fixed it by downgrading to kernel 5.4.2 and downgrading nvidia to 440.36-5 plus all other nvidia packages to 440.36-1. it appears to be a kernel bug unrelated to nvidia as per kernel bug post https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=205855

Thanks. For the moment, I reverted to LTS and sound is functioning again.

For me it was a fresh install of arch yesterday on a brand new computer, but i can confirm that a downgrade to kernel(-headers) 5.4.2 and downgrading nvidia to 440.36-5 and nvidia-utils to 440.36-1 works. Thanks for the help!
