System keeps freezing

Hello everybody,

I'm asking for help since I haven't been able to fix this issue I'm currently having with Archlinux.

As the title says, my system keeps freezing.
It is something related to some graphic process, since after it freezes if I'm quick enough I can access tty2 and login from there (without a display manager). The only way out is to then either issue a reboot command or press the reset button on the case.

At first, I thought it had something to do with the compositor because it happened completely random, even browsing Chrome was enough to trigger it sometimes.
However, I've tried both with the compositor on and off, I've enabled and disabled v-sync, I've changed the rendering backend to OpenGL 3.1 and it still kept happening: not even VRR has anything to do with this it appears.

This last two days it looks like it became more stable, because now it only freezes when I open games (I would definitely need more time though to  be sure that that's the only scenario), and a few searches on Google led me to these reports:
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/issues/2004
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=205169
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/amd/issues/892
And at the moment I strongly believe that this is my problem too.

The fact is: I don't know what I should do...
Should I install llvm-git, xf86-video-amdgpu-git, mesa-git, and lib32-mesa-git? And if yes, I've not undestood how.

My system is:
CPU: Ryzen 7 3700X
Motherboard: Gigabyte X570 Aorus Elite
GPU: Sapphire RX 5700 XT Nitro+

And I'm using xf86-video-amdgpu, mesa, lib32-mesa, vulkan-radeon and lib32-vulkan-radeon as drivers from the main repositories.

I have Windows in dual boot, but atm I've just installed it, disabled the dirty shutdown/boot options and configured it to use UTC: I haven't installed any driver, if this is relevant.

If it's needed, I'll freeze the system a few times with different applications and copy here a dump of journalctl.
Just tell me what you need and I'll do it.

Please help me, this is beyond frustrating... Thanks in advance

Re: System keeps freezing

I recently got a system with Gigabyte B450 Aurus Pro (with latest F50 bios) and Ryzen 3600. I installed amd-ucode (my old intel system used the intel microcode so in put it here too) and blacklisted sp5100_tco (this driver was spilling errors on linux 5.3) driver. After this my system started to lockup 1-2 times every day mainly while browsing with chromium. After removing the microcode (you need to regenerate with mkinitcpio else on next boot you will have errors)  and blacklisting it stopped to lockup.

I'm not sure which of this two was causing it tho. Maybe something got updated/fixed in the meantime too.

Hope it helps.
