libvirt gpu passthrough for windows 10 guest - gpu not detected

Hi,

I followed this guide https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/PC … h_via_OVMF to set up a Windows VM with GPU passthrough. (I'm currently not using ovmf-uefi but the default bios).

The GPU does show up in Window's device manager as a 3D-Video Controller but NVIDIA's driver installer refuses to work, claiming that the Windows version is not compatible with the driver and that no GPU was detected.
Window's taskmanager also shows that it detects that it is running as a virtual machine which shouldn't be the case if I'm not mistaken.

Here is my libvirt config:

Re: libvirt gpu passthrough for windows 10 guest - gpu not detected

Seems like Nvidia realised the trick and improved detecting of being run in a VM.
Nvidia only licenses business grade GPUs (Quattro and such) to be run in a windows WM and blocks driver install for consumergrade cards.

Check https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/PC … indows_VMs , it lists an alternative method to fool nvidia.

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
Try clean chroot manager by graysky

Yeah, I also tried the more restrictive methods for older qemu versions. Still no luck.
I guess that company isn't going to see any money from me in the future.
