[SOLVED] KDE has some weird behavior

Hi all,

I just finished installing KDE/plasma on my arch linux distribution, and I'm encountering some weird errors, especially regarding rendering. First, the desktop background doesn't load all the time, and when it does (the blue and white "icy" background), the screen flickers often and randomly turns black.  In addition, typing works in terminal, but when I type in vscode or in the start menu search bar, I can't see the text.  In addition, if I open up a window, the taskbar icon corresponding to that window doesn't render.  Finally, I cannot click on any of the tabs in the start menu; however, I can click the close button of whatever I open (e.g. terminal or firefox; by the way, typing and clicking in firefox works perfectly).  The behavior in question can be seen below:

Part 1
Part 2

I've tried going through the troubleshooting sections of the Wiki for KDE, SDDM, and Xorg, and I'm still just as perplexed as to why this is occuring.

My current setup:
Using X, SDDM, and Plasma.  Installed KDE-applications.
Dual booting Windows 10 and Arch on a Dell XPS 7390 with an Intel 10th gen CPU and an integrated intel graphics card.

Thanks for your help!

Re: [SOLVED] KDE has some weird behavior

Please post your Xorg log and for a wild guess i'd drop xf86-video-intel to use the modesetting driver, esp. if the behavor improves when suspending the compositor (SHIFT+alt+F12) but also in general.

Re: [SOLVED] KDE has some weird behavior

Solved - removing xf86-video-intel fixed it! I have an intel 9bca; when I examined the Xorg logs as you suggested, that was not on the list of supported drivers for xf86-video-intel (as I had assumed).  Thank you so much! smile
