hello
I have a small problem with my new environment setup kde plasma.
the problem is in the lock screen or login screen i must use mouse (move mouse or click somewhere) to show password textbox on screen. lock screen is not reacting to keyboard inputs before moving mouse at all.
honestly i don't know this is a kde problem or sddm or ... something else.
do anyone know what should i do about that? thank you

Please clarify whether log-in or lock screen they are not the same thing (login is SDDM, lock screen is kscreenlock), and I can't reproduce in either. On the lockscreen the PW box is indeed hidden on idle but will show when doing keyboard input

i have this problem on both lock screen and login screen with small difference.
in lock screen only date time is visible until i click with mouse then click in the password textbox. after two clicks i can type my password.
in login screen password textbox is visible but not focused. so i must click again in the password textbox with mouse then i can type my password.
i both cases apparently keyboard inputs are being ignored ... (tab or anything else not working).

yes its hidden but not showing when doing keyboard inputs
thank you

Do you guys use the default theme or another one?
Some themes just don't provide the "jump" to the users password-box. Default theme will do. You may change this with some QML-hacking.
If it is not working in default theme, take a look at your journal-files to catch possibly errors or warnings and show what hardware you are using (bluetooth keyboard and mouse, …)

I'm not using default theme right now, but I have tried before this post. not working...
I'm kinda new to this environment so What should I look for?
at the end, I'm not using any Bluetooth devices neither.
EDIT: does this help ?

thank you @koffeinfriedhof. the journal-files actually helped me to kinda solve the problem ! (not completely but it's fine now)
at the end of these logs, it looks like I entered incorrect password a few times but I didn't! I was trying to show the password text-box on the screen. so i tried again and found keyboard is working and I can log in to the system with the keyboard without seeing the password text box!
![]()
but I still don't know why lock screens not reacting to keyboard inputs,(visually)

Could you start /lib/kscreenlocker_greet and post the output? Some errors are common, depending on the addidtional packages installed and due to initializing qml-stuff - at least it should catch your keyboard input anyway.
If you want to debug the lockscreen-behaviour, have a look at /usr/share/plasma/look-and-feel/org.kde.breeze.desktop/contents/lockscreen/LockScreenUi.qml.

GPU class is the used processing unit, like SandyBridge,… Your's is a kaby lake, I do not now how it is internally handled.
/lib/kscreenlocker_greet does nothing but triggering the lock screen - must have been changes you made. Updates, cleaning, settings save… whatever. At least it works ![]()
