[SOLVED](raid)grub-install: error: diskfilter writes are not supported

Hey guys,

So I'm installing Arch onto a raid 0 setup and everything is working up until I try to install grub

grub-install --target=i386-pc /dev/md127

It returns the error:

grub-install: error: diskfilter writes are not supported

Can anyone lend a hand? I've been scouring the internet and I can't find anything of use. I've tried setting GRUB_SAVEDEFAULT="false" in /etc/default/grub because someone said to try this for a problem that vaguely resembled mine and this was to no avail.
Will be happy to provide more information I'm just not sure what info would be useful to you guys on this one.
