Unable to start X & Wayland on a fresh install with 5500 XT
I'm at my wits end here, I've tried what I can find on the Internet, so hopefully someone here has better debug fu than I do. Help me figure out what I need to install, or configure differently, or how to diagnose if this is a hardware problem (this card is new, so I can still RMA to the manufacturer).
When I try to start an X window manager (xorg-twm, right now), or Wayland compositor (Weston, right now) I get the same error in my dmesg log.

Looks like a kernel module issue, try linux-mainline or if that is insufficient https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/linu … -next-git/ .
FWIW the common iommu parameter I've seen used here is
iommu=ptso you might want to try that, also ensure your BIOS/UEFI is up to date.
Regarding booting archiso being a no go, you shouldn't have to swap graphic cards, booting with nomodeset/blacklisting amdgpu should always work to get to a terminal.
