After resizing partition gnome crashes to gdm with segfault

After growing my home partition and restoring it from a backup, gnome has  started to crash soon after logging in through GDM, sending me back to the GDM login screen. This happens at seemingly random points in time but usually within 30 seconds after logging in.

After looking over the systemd journal, I found a segfault in process "gnome-session-b" which looks like it was caused by a stack overflow in libpcre.so.1. Here's an excerpt from the journal starting at the segfault and going till the end:

Other relevant information includes that I deleted and re-created the user "gus" to restore my home directory. I also updated the fstab by hand which seems to have worked based on this:

$ lsblk
NAME MAJ:MIN RM SIZE RO TYPE MOUNTPOINT
sda           8:0    1  14.4G  0 disk
└─sda1        8:1    1   325M  0 part

I saw some other posts on that looked similar to this but they mostly had to  do with a libmutter segfault that seems related to Wayland. I will soon try disabling Wayland and starting GDM, but I'm not sure why this change in behavior would have occurred after restoration from backup if that were the issue.

I'm honestly not sure what about restoring from this backup would have caused the issue. Any help would be appreciated! Perfectly willing to post more info but just not sure what is most relevant.

Re: After resizing partition gnome crashes to gdm with segfault

Please post/attach the complete dmesg somewhere. What you posted is just the crash information, where the actual problem preceding the crash would be reported well before this, *if* it's related to the file system resize. I see no filesystem related problems in the snipped crash log.
