Error viewing TV in fullscreen with xorg 7.1 and nvidia

Hello!

Another problem related to xorg or nvidia propietary driver :-( This time, the problem has appeared with the upgrade to xorg 7.1. With 7.0 and the current version of the nvidia driver, there was no problem.

I'll try to explain as best as i can, as my english is not "academic" ;-)

Well, the one and only problem appears when viewing TV in full screen mode. I use kdetv. I don't know how to explain the problem with words, so i'll put a sequence of the frames while viewing TV in fullscreen mode (the errors are between []):

1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-[7-8-9]-13-[11-12-13]-17-18-19-20-21-22-23-24-[22-23-24]-28....and so on

Changing the driver to "nv" instead of "nvidia" the problem is solved, so, the problem seems to be a conflict between 7.1 and the current nvidia driver, as with 7.0 version this didn't happen.

I'd use the non-propietary driver, but i usually use google-earth, and i need the 3D acceleration.

I suppose that the problem is related to the xorg.conf configuration, but, from time to time, i'm absoluty lost with all the new (or no) options appeared: trasparency, xgl, render, xvideo, using the GPU to draw something...... I don't need "visual" things, i only want a xorg.conf configuration to have 3D acceleration, and a fast X system.

Any idea of what can be the solution?

A lot of thanks!

Re: Error viewing TV in fullscreen with xorg 7.1 and nvidia

Another posibility would be that anyone that uses the current nvidia propietary driver, can view TV in fullscreen mode without problems and uses xorg 7.1, puts here the xorg.conf file. Not the whole one, only the sections related to "Device" and "extensions". I'd probe them.

Or, if you prefer, send it to my mail (dienadel at gmail dot com). In this case, i'd put here the configuration that worked.

Thanks anyway!

Re: Error viewing TV in fullscreen with xorg 7.1 and nvidia

i've always used kdetv without deinterlacing. I changed it  to bilinear deinterlacing and all is ok. The CPU grows up to 80%, but, i can see it with "nvidia" driver.

The greedy deinterlacing works too. The rest of the image filters doesn't work for me.

thanks anyway!

Bye!

Re: Error viewing TV in fullscreen with xorg 7.1 and nvidia

Hi dienadel,
I installed kdetv and all seems well.
I have an FX5500 agp video card, Xorg-7.1, and Nvidia-8774.
I tried with the bi-linear filter and no filter at all.
Playback at full screen was fine.
I think perhaps I don't exactly understand your problem.
I sent you a copy of my xorg.conf, hope it helps.

Cheers
