[SOLVED] Laptop failing to detect HDMI video output

Hello,

I recently updated my system (pacman -Syu), and now my machine is refusing to connect to my external monitor/speakers. I am convinced it is a configuration error (rather than a hardware error), as it was working previous to the update+reboot. I am currently running wayland gnome via GDM, but this persists in other window managers (I tried i3, KDE and xmonad). This has also persisted through multiple reboots. My video card is running the nvidia drivers on an nvidia geforce gtx.

xrandr output:

(there are more resolutions displayed beneath, but no other screens and I have cropped them for brevity)

This may be unrelated, but I also get a flood of messages on dmesg whenever I plug/unplug an HDMI cable. Plugging it in gives

Unplugging the HDMI cable gives the same messages from pci_bus, but nothing from rtw_pci.

I'm not sure what other information I could provide. Any advice would be appreciated.

Sorry to post that it works prematurely. This does fix the display issue, but my HDMI audio output is still not working.

And change at least the title to what's your actual to be solved issue is. Though it'd be better to start a new thread as it's a different issue. No your xorg.conf should not be relevant for getting audio

By what means do you determine that your hdmi audio doesn't work? Which command do you use to test playback? You should try the nvidia devices.
