Problems with i810 chip

I'm having some problems with my laptop. Everytime I close my laptops lid it makes X crash. Xorg.0.log.old doesn't tell me much but I managed to get some information when starting X from the console and printing the output to a file so here it is:

Anyone know why or how to solve it?

Re: Problems with i810 chip

mine does the same. I think it's a power management thing, just the monitor can't seem to start back up after reopening the lid.

Re: Problems with i810 chip

Well if your laptop is anything like mine (also using the i810 driver) when I put it to sleep (which I assume is what's happening when you close the lid) then wake it back up the lcd doesnt come back on.  To fix this I had to change the following line in my menu.lst

kernel /boot/vmlinuz26 root=/dev/hda1 ro
-to-
kernel /boot/vmlinuz26 root=/dev/hda1 acpi_sleep=s3_bios,s3_mode ro

Re: Problems with i810 chip

thx for the tip. Now I actually get my desktop back instead of a black screen... HOWEVER, the desktop becomes unresponsive which eventually leads to a hard reboot.

Re: Problems with i810 chip

Tried it on my Dell Latitude C400, made it restart instead of just going black.
