Unable to get bsdtar to exclude '*.pkg.tar.*' files

For backup of my system I am running

cd /mnt/mount
bsdtar -pcf /mnt/backup/motocycle-backup.tar . --exclude='*.pkg.tar.*'

but still there are lots of pacman tars in the backup. What am I doing wrong?

Re: Unable to get bsdtar to exclude '*.pkg.tar.*' files

The exclude has to come first...

bsdtar --exclude='*.pkg.tar.*' -pcf /mnt/backup/motocycle-backup.tar .

Why are you changing dirs first?  You can do it all from the shell.
