fully updated arch desktop.
I remove "quiet" from the linux line.
Last 2 lines I see now are
Reached target Local File Systems (Pre)
Started Flush Journal to Persistant Storage.
I normal boot from ssd drive, and normally I have 3 usb drives attached, though I've unplugged those 3 with no noticeable change.
Can someone please advise how to continue to troubleshoot?
Thanks!

What was in the last update? What is the kernel being used? What is in the journal from the failed boot?
You can boot into the system using live media chroot in and post the journal to a pastebin. (see tip box in link)

Hi loqs,
Thanks for your quick reply. I slowly made some progress and I'm back at it today.
So far I can't get anything from the pacman logs to answer what was in the last update. I had a friend over (who is great at some things but unfortunately really not a linux person), and somehow the journal now only has about 7 lines that are new and completely irrelevant.
The good news: I downgraded the kernel from 5.1.15 and 5.1.14 and everything looks fine, boots, looks perfect so far. Except I've only got my secondary monitor, but I imagine I can figure that one out.
The downgrade did not seem to require downgrading any dependencies either.
But so it would seem I still haven't identified what it was about 5.1.15 that brought me this grief.
Given all this, have you any suggestions on how to proceed?
Obviously I will eventually need to be able to get and keep the kernel current again.
Maybe I should try to upgrade back to 5.1.15 since I have a bootable USB as well now and then look at the journal again?
I'm just trying to be overly careful at this point. I haven't lost anything and want to keep things as stable as possible.
Thanks!

My journal file is 4.1 GB.
I have run the results of "journalctl -p 3 -xb" and put them here, in hopes something can be gleaned from it. For the moment I'm still running 5.4.14, not yet upgraded back to 5.4.15.
Let me know if anything else can be helpful.
Thanks again,
Chris

I have solved the problem now.
I never did find the problem through any troubleshooting methods really.
I just remembered how much grief my Nvidia card has given me over the years. I reinstalled "nvidia" and "nvidia-utils", and everything seems to be working fine. Will mark solved.
