LibreOffice page size problem

Arch build of LibreOffice fresh (6.4.1.2). System locale is set to en_GB.UTF8. Under Tools > Options > Language the locale shows up correctly. Which should mean that printer settings are set for A4 paper. However, any time I attempt to print a document, the printer properties show up as letter, not A4. Change the setting, print, save the document. If I try to print again, page size has reverted to letter again...

I've created a default template with the page size set to A4. Makes no difference - if I go to print a document created using the new default template, the printer page is still showing letter. I attempted to use the printer properties "use only printer preferred page size" (which starts out as A4), but the next time I try to print, back to letter. The properties option is still ticked, but now shows letter instead of A4.

I've checked a couple of other versions of LibreOffice. The current Windows 64-bit version is defaulting correctly to A4. An older Debian build (have to go back and check what version it is) also defaults to A4. However, an Arch libreoffice-still build is showing the same insistence on using letter. Nothing else on the system is having this problem - two different PDF readers, Thunderbird, Firefox and a couple of text editors all follow the locale and default to A4.

I've found some older messages which show similar problems, but nothing that helps in my case. Its becoming more than a little annoying...

Any ideas?

That default comes from CUPS/resp libpaper. See https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/CUPS#Configuration third sentence.

Thanks for the suggestion. My fault - should have specified, I've checked the settings in Cups and also edited /etc/papersize, both set to A4. Makes no difference, unfortunately.

I have probably the same problem for another language. If I let LibreOffice choose the "Locale setting" automatically from the system, the paper size would always reset itself to "Letter".
I had to explicitly set the "Locale setting" in LibreOffice, so that no "Default -" is preceding it. After this change and a restart of LibreOffice it finally choose the Paper Size (A4) based on the Locale.

Oddly enough, the only statement I have come across while searching for this bug was that "Default - <Language>" and "<Language>" is not the same.
