XPS 15 9560 4k: hdpi screen scaling changed after update this morning

Any suggestions on how to diagnose further, please, & apologies if I should have posted more information with this request. Gonna have to switch OS to continue my work day sad

Ran pacman -Syu this morning. Noticed that after restart, boot text output scaled differently. Used to be very small on the 4k screen on this laptop, but after update looked at least 2x scaled up, very readable.

Run Gnome 200% scale on this screen, also on an external 24" 4k monitor. All OK, following that initial restart, until returned from lunch and awoke laptop from sleep. Built in display now scaled ridiculously large, so that track pad scrolls around the desktop, can only see less than 1/4 at a time. Changing Gnome scale doesn't fix it. Behaviour is preserved across power cycle restarts.

=> can't use system without fixing!

Was able to escape bizarro mode via SUPER (Windows) + ALT + 8  - so I guess Gnome desktop zoom had become enabled, I expect by mistake, by me.
