Can't get Okular to work with Polish diacritic characters

Hi. Problem is, that after saving a PDF file in Okular (version 1.9.3) nearly all Polish diacritic characters are gone:

Expected is to see
"test ąa ęe żz łl śs żz źz"

But instead I see only
"test a e z łl s z z"

When I'm editing the file ("show form" button), everything seem to be fine:

I tried opening this on Windows 10 with Adobe acrobat and I also couldn't see all polish characters.

Could you please help me with this issue?
I'm using Plasma 5.18.3
