I could use some help installing my Brother printer

OK, I think I'm half way there but I'll let you all be the judge of that.  My printer is a Brother MFC-9340CDW.

I installed this driver package from the AUR.

Output of dpkg -l  |  grep  Brother:

ii  mfc9340cdwcupswrapper:i386 1.1.4-0      i386         Brother CUPS Laser Printer Definitions
ii  mfc9340cdwlpr:i386         1.1.2-1      i386         Brother lpr Laser Printer Definitions

That would lead me to believe that the drivers are installed, however I'm not on i386, but rather x86_64.  Where I'm getting lost is my next step(s).  I'm coming from Debian 10.3 where you just dpkg the .deb and then go into printer settings in KDE and poof, there's the printer.  point being, this is very new.  I have installed cups and enabled it in systemd.  I can log into localhost:631 but I've just no idea what to do from here.  Can someone point me to the proper documentation I should be following?

So, for the AUR packages, you have to download a PKGBUILD script for the package you want to build, then follow the wiki instructions for AUR packages: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ar … Repository

That should get you started.

Did you actually install the driver with dpkg? That's a very bad idea that has a high likelyhood of completely breaking your system, did it install anything else? if not remove that with dpkg and install the AUR package properly as linked. Do not mix package managers, bad things will happen.

I did install dpkg.  I'm a doof.  I'm going to just reinstall Arch.  It will actually be fun anyway, and a great learning experience.
