DS4 not working in game despite DS4 detected in Steam.

Playstation 4 Configuration Support enabled in Steam controller settings and the controller successfully registered to my account. The controller works and can move navigate all the menus in Big Picture mode. I can use the controller to launch the game, but once in game, no input from the controller is recognized EXCEPT FOR the trackpad.

I have  "Global Settings (PS)" enabled in game's (Sekiro) input settings.

Launching in Big Picture or Desktop mode makes no difference.

Using different Proton version does not help either.

Here is the only thing I found on google. Github issues page for proton .

Please help.

EDIT: I am NOT using bluetooth.
EDIT: New lead: installing xboxdrv may fix this.
