[solved] XFCE menus not working properly, mouse pointer lost

Hi there,

I am using Arch for quite some time and it works fine. But from yesterday to today I got some kind of bug in my XFCE behavior. When I start it, I only get a black background instead of the usual wallpaper. Menus of the windows don't work properly, I cannot pick items from a menu list. Besides the mouse pointer cannot be seen or it is just a big X (like in fvwm) instead of the usual mouse pointer. I think, I updated the system yesterday. Don't know what happened. Any ideas?
Hardware is rather old: AMD Radeon HD 5400.

I think, I updated the system yesterday.

Don't guess, verify. You have a pacman log in /var/log/pacman.log where you will be able to identify the exact list of packages that was updated. Check your kernel/journal logs. In doubt post the packages that were updated and

sudo journalctl -b

within [ code ] [ /code ] tags without the spaces.

Hi there,

seems to be a known problem for XFCE. Found help on another forum.
Open terminal and run

xfwm4 --replace

kind of resets the XFCE session. Everything is fine, again.
