Desktop Entries | Files are not visible

I am Newbie , so obvious this question may be foolish

Actually, I am not able to bring the files/apps on the desktop. On the 'Desktop Entries' arch page, there is a command "desktop-file-install --dir=~/.local/share/applications ~/app.desktop " I run it by replacing app.desktop to firefox.desktop, I got this error : "Error on file "/home/archuser/firefox.desktop": No such file or directory".
However, there is "firefox.desktop" file on /usr/share/applications/ .

I am using gnome over Arch Linux. Please guide me to bring appliations/files/files shortcut on desktop, don't refer me to read Desktop entries arch page please.

Have you tried the desktop-icons extension?

GNOME no longer supports that functionality natively.

I tried, now new folder, show desktop options are available with right-click. I added a folder on desktop but it is not visible. I visited desktop in file, folder is created there, so I enabled show hidden files, still not any files are visible in desktop.
