HP printer plugin installation fails

I tried installing the plugin required for my HP LaserJet P1102 using hplip and hplip-minimal available on the AUR. Plugin installation fails every time. I even tried downloading the plugin manually from the internet and then specifying the path to hplip, but again, it returned "error: Plugin installation failed." What do I do?
