Hi!
Since version 6.1 virtualbox does require a CPU with VT-x support. My CPU in theory supports it but my BIOS does not allow me to enable it (and there is no newer BIOS version). That's why I started ignoring virtualbox updates, sticking at 6.0.14-4 (knowing this is not officially supported). Now after the update to linux 5.6, the vboxdrv kernel module failed to load and thus, virtualbox can no longer run any VMs. So I switched from linux to linux-lts and it works again.
Now I'm wondering how long it will take until linux-lts is updated to something > 5.5 and virtualbox stops working again. I do not want to replace my laptop yet. It's from 2012 and still works well (apart from the battery, but hey). Are there other possibilities?
Thanks in advance for suggestions!

At the current time it's still unknown which will be the next LTS kernel but it's usually the last release of the year.

I have the exact same problem.
Would it be possible to load the legacy vbox driver into a newer kernel to maitain support for these older machines?
