Thunderbolt3 Dock ERROR unknown event type 15 after kernel 5.6.2

I have a CalDigit TS3 Plus docking station that I have been working with for a few years now. Since updating yesterday, my dock and everything connected to it (except monitors) will stop functioning and I'll see logs in dmesg like so

[Wed Apr 8 19:44:37 2020] xhci_hcd 0000:09:00.0: ERROR unknown event type 15

[Wed Apr 8 19:44:43 2020] usb 9-1.4.4: USB disconnect, device number 6

I can reset the device using the xhci_cd bind/unbind controls, but the issue happens way to often (~5 minutes or so after resetting).

Any idea on what is going on here?

Re: Thunderbolt3 Dock ERROR unknown event type 15 after kernel 5.6.2

I also have TS3 Plus dock with the similar symptoms. I have a Dell laptop, an LG Utrawide monitor, Logitech mouse, and Microsoft keyboard. The laptop and monitor work fine, but the USB devices (keyboard and mouse) don't work at all. I'm not seeing the same error as you mention in my dmesg logs. Nor do I see anything obvious or prominent in the logs to indicate otherwise (I could be missing the clues).

The TS3 Plus would be a fantastic solution for my set up, but I need more than just the monitor (DisplayPort) pass through.

Re: Thunderbolt3 Dock ERROR unknown event type 15 after kernel 5.6.2

I was able to get my TS3 Plus dock working with all my peripherals (Keyboard and Mouse) by disabling the user approval requirement for Thunderbolt connected devices in the UEFI BIOS settings.

I'm not sure how the user was supposed to be notified and accept the connected peripherals, but I guess that's another post someday.
