Hardware: X1 Carbon 5th gen / i7-7600U / 16gb MEM/ 1TB SSD / Intel HD Graphics 620
Monitors: Internal (2560x1440), External 4k (3840x2160), External 1080p (1920x1080). Both external monitors are connected through a THINKPAD USB-C DOCK GEN2.
Symptoms: The system becomes visibly sluggish when switching from the internal monitor to all three. This is especially bad when using video or video conferencing. The basemark score on chrome also drops when switching to multi-monitor from ~440 to ~220.
Annoyingly, when I try this on Windows 10 (dual-boot) it's much better and there's no performance drop on basemark.
Things that I've already tried but had little to no effect:
1. Enable and disable forcing hardware acceleration
2. Enabling/Disabling compositors
3. Switching windows managers
4. Switching between X11 and Wayland
5. Switching between Intel drivers and modsetting
Would appreciate any idea on what's going on here. Thanks!
