Recent upgrade: ata2 failed errors

Don't have a log of this, but it went something like this,

ata2 0XF2 ...
ata2 Failed ...
ata2 Failed, Skipping ...

I don't even know what this ata2 thing is, it pops up before kinit

Re: Recent upgrade: ata2 failed errors

Do you have a second drive? I'm going to guess what you're seeing is "working as intended".  I see no symptoms listed, so it's apparent this isn't causing problems.  It's another case of "it says the word 'error', it must be bad".

Here's my guess:  The module which probes harddrives tests major/minor numbers in sequence.  first, it hits what it calls "ata1", finds a drive, then tried the next, called "ata2".  Seeing that there _is no_ ata2, it fails and carries on it's merry way.

Yes, I have two drives, A HDA and a SATA harddrive, Both are currently working. Is there a way to stop the Ata2 thing? Because ti takes about 4mins for it to get passed that.
