I originally installed MATE in Arch Linux, but then I wanted to switch to i3, so I installed that. When I logged into i3, I saw 2 terminal emulators when i pressed mod+d: mate-terminal and i3-sensible-terminal, so I uninstalled the mate-terminal. However somehow I uninstalled both of them, and now when I press mod+[enter] a message saying 'i3-sensible-terminal could not find a terminal emulator. Please install one.'. I would normally run 'sudo pacman -S i3-sensible-terminal', however I can't because I don't have a terminal emulator to run the command. Additionally I don't know how to exit out of lightdm to get to a real terminal (not an emulator, just the bare bones text based console without gui), because I would have to run a command to do that.
How do I either install a terminal emulator without a terminal emulator or disable lightdm without running a command?

Will Ctr+Alt+F2 switch to a different terminal?
EDIT - too late.
