Xen & MS

http://www.hunterstrat.com/news/categor … ource/xen/

I was on irc last night not something I do very often find it a dark place anyway

chat was about Xen ...

They were saying thats its possible to use under Arch cool I thought

Wiki guide is 2005 (by the legend Cactus!) just wondered if that will still work?

Is installing Xen easy ? do you need to rebuild every kernel to use it or does stock kernel have modules included?

Have used vmplayer in the past not had many problems with it is Xen faster better ?

There seems to be a lot of Hype with VM stuff is it worth the hasstle?

:?:

Re: Xen & MS

I understood that xen effectively replaces your main OS, but you can then install any OS you like on it... whereas vmware runs a virtual machine on your current OS.
anyway, it's easy to get very large hard disks now, so I don't really see the point of either  smile

Re: Xen & MS

it all depends on what you want to do.
Have you ever felt you could use a 2nd/3rd/4th/5th/..  pc but lack space/money/whatever ?
VM's can solve that.

Xen is similar in function to the commercial VMware ESX server.
In case you want to use your desktop to run vm's Xen & ESX are overkill.
Vmware Player/Server/Workstation , Parralels , qemu are more useful in that case.

There are some windows games i still play , and Wine can't run them.
With a windows vm i can play them while still using arch for other things simultaneously.

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
