ROG Zenith Extreme Soundcard not working/correctly detected

Hey everyone!

I am trying to switch from Windows to Linux.
Arch in particular.
Got it running nicely so far with gnome.
Arch Kernel is 5.6.7 and gnome is 3.36.1 running on xorg with Nvidia RTX 2080 proprietary drivers 440.82.

But i got a Problem with my Onboard Soundcard.
I got a ROG Zenith Extreme 1st Gen with a Ryzen 1920x.
And that Soundcard is detected, kind of, but does not work / is not selectable in the Audio settings.

lspci -v gives me this about the card:

0c:00.3 Audio device: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD] Family 17h (Models 00h-0fh) HD Audio Controller
Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. Family 17h (Models 00h-0fh) HD Audio Controller
Flags: fast devsel, IRQ 5, NUMA node 0
	Memory at d8f00000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [disabled] [size=32K]
	Capabilities: <access denied>
	Kernel modules: snd_hda_intel

I did notice no "Kernel driver in user: snd_hda_intel"
So, do i need to load the Kernel Driver somewhere?

The Nvidia HDMI Audio is detected and working

0a:00.1 Audio device: NVIDIA Corporation TU104 HD Audio Controller (rev a1)
Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. TU104 HD Audio Controller
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 104, NUMA node 0
	Memory at d8080000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16K]
	Capabilities: <access denied>
	Kernel driver in use: snd_hda_intel
	Kernel modules: snd_hda_intel

Output of lspci -nnk | grep -i -A7 audio:

0a:00.1 Audio device [0403]: NVIDIA Corporation TU104 HD Audio Controller [10de:10f8] (rev a1)
Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. TU104 HD Audio Controller [1043:865f]

And one more, the Soundcard is not beeing listed here - cat /proc/asound/cards:

HD Pro Webcam C920 at usb-0000:41:00.3-1.1, high speed

So, anyone got some suggestions?
Would be highly appreciated! big_smile

Re: ROG Zenith Extreme Soundcard not working/correctly detected

did read that thread before.

i reinstalled arch with the lts kernel 5.4 something.
still had that issue, strange (did upgrade the kernel afterwards again).

but ok, it seems to be a known bug with an upcoming fix.
so, i'll just use my headphones till then i guess. smile

Re: ROG Zenith Extreme Soundcard not working/correctly detected

It's a stable queue patch, that has a good chance of being included in the latest LTS as well.
