He together
I moved my Arch installation from my old Laptop to my new one. The new laptop is a "HP EliteBook 755 G5" with a
"AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 2500U w/ Radeon Vega Mobile Gfx". I connected my old HDD to the new laptop and booted into
an Arch install USB stick. Then I ran a "dd" to migrate to the new laptop HDD. However, when booting now I have
the boot process hang forever at random stages. If I try a few times to boot up, sometimes I am lucky and the boot
finishes up. When this happens everything works as expected (except for some small things which I still have to fix
like adjusting backlight).
When I try to boot with the "nomodeset" option then it seems to work properly. However, then the starting the x-server
fails not finding any display. I was reading through the logs of failed boots and I cannot make sense of it so far. I am a bit
clueless how to debug that problem. Any help or hint from your side would be appreciated.

Post a journal log of a failing boot, see https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Sy … ing_output for how to accomplish that even from a "working" boot

Seems to be resolved for now. First I updated the complete firmware. Which did not help at all. I tried several boot options without success, which I found as recommendation spread across the internet.
Finally I found a hint on changing "Rom Execution Policies" in the advance bios setup. I changed this from "All legacy" to "All UEFI" and now it works without any problems.
